Tall Ship Races Riga 2013

Hello my cupcakes!
I'm so sorry for not writing for some time. I didn't want to start my blog with reviews so I decided to wait for one event. Also, yesterday I got my new lenses i.Fairy Kirei Green which I bought on www.lensvillage.com. I think I will write about them in my next post.

From Thursday till Sunday a lot of sailing ships were stationed here in Riga. It was quite an event, since last time it was 10 years ago. It was a part of Tall Ship Races. Tall Ship Races are races for sailing ships from Denmark to Finland. After the race ships are visiting some port towns and are shown to the public. It was possible to walk aboard the ships and explore the deck. But I haven't done that. There was such a big line to get on the ships that I had not the slightest will to wait :DD I took a photos of the biggest A class ships. There were twenty of them. All of the other ships were stationed in the port zone behind the fence, so it was impossible to get near them. You can click photo, to make it bigger~

Watching the photos it is hard to judge how tall these ships actually are. It was bad that we went to this event at sunset. It was hard to take pictures because of the sun. I had to run around looking for a best spot to take the picture :D

Oh yeah, there was one man with "balls of steel" on the bow of one of the ships :DD I have no idea what he was doing there but he became popular instantly. Everyone who passed by had to take the picture of him.

Ship that you see on the last two pictures above was the most popular. It had the biggest line to get on deck. And it was one of the biggest of all ships, probably. At first I thought it was from Germany, because of it's name. It had quite a german ring to it. But it turned out to be from Russia as friends told me later.

This ship had the most beautiful bow I have seen. Mermaid riding the see horse, how cute is that~

I think this last ship was the biggest of all. I think it is because of its enormous masts. It's such a shame that all of the ships where stationed with pulled sails :<

View of regatta from one end

Look what enormous masts it has!

Also there was a little bazaar of handmade stuff. They were selling clothes, hats, toys, ceramics and lot, lot more.

This was the most popular counter since it was selling clothes and stuff with sea subjects. Every second had such a hat on their head. I would buy one myself, but I didn't have enough money and was kinda embarrassed to buy if I would :D

There were a lot of sailors walking by the port. And all the girls were going crazy over them. Especially me, I just love men in uniform~

There was also a little stage with local musician performing. On Friday I first saw live performance of a local singer which I like very much. And we spend a good time by the stage on Saturday thanks to the blues-band, who were performing in the evening.

On Saturday evening when it started to get dark, ships began to light the lights on decks. It was so beautiful~ Because of the ambiance it felt like I was in totally another city. Everything seemed so magical.

Evening ended with the celebratory fireworks. It was said that it would be the most spectacular in the last two years. Well, I don't know about spectacular, but it was super long. Lasted 20 minutes. While I was filming it my hands got so tired and my phone discharged :DD
Sorry for long post. Maybe it was boring for you guys?
If that is, I am sorry :< But I really wanted to show you this beautiful event.

Good luck lovelies~~
